Opportunity Filter
Playbook

Every yes to the wrong thing is a no to the right thing. Filter opportunities in under 5 minutes.

info

What This Is: A 4-step opportunity evaluation playbook with a 5-question filter, a weighted scorecard, 5 NO response templates, a decision log, and a calibration exercise. Designed to stop saying yes to everything and confidently decline 80% of opportunities in under 5 minutes.

warningWhy You Need This

Every "yes" to the wrong thing is a "no" to the right thing. As you grow, inbound opportunities multiply — speaking requests, partnership pitches, feature asks, networking intros. Without a filter, you say yes to everything and accomplish nothing.

This playbook gives you a repeatable system to evaluate any opportunity in under 5 minutes, say no with confidence and grace, and protect the time that actually moves your business forward.

tips_and_updates

Tip 1: Create a "Someday" List — When you say no to something interesting but not urgent, add it to a Someday list. Review quarterly. Most items will no longer seem important — and that's the point.

Tip 2: The "Can Someone Else Do This?" Test — Before saying yes, ask: Could someone else handle this? If yes, delegate. If no, ask: Does this HAVE to be me, or am I saying yes out of FOMO?

Tip 3: Set a Yes Quota — Limit yourself to 2–3 non-core opportunities per quarter. Once the quota is full, everything else is an automatic no.

Tip 4: Batch Your No Responses — Don't respond to opportunity requests immediately. Let them sit 24–48 hours, then batch your responses. This prevents impulsive yes decisions.
